The Ultimate DOOM

DOOM has evolved into The Ultimate DOOM from id software and GT Interactive on CDROM and requires DX386 or better, 8M RAM, and about 20M on the Harddrive. The makers had been bought by two other companies and The former id software was part of Activision and GT Interactive was part of Infogrames. Activision went bankrupt, IDSoftware came back.
It has episodes 1 though 4 then you continue on with DOOM2, and FinalDOOM. There is also a DOOM95 which has the setup (included in FinalDOOM) to run under Win95/98+.

This area still under construction

There will be walk throughs in time, just have to write them again! I lost them to one of the reinstalls and disk changes I've done over the last few years (always upgrading my PCs). Presently I can do 4 player games via the ethernet in my house.

AWE Cards in DOS mode:

To run AWE cards in DOS mode you need to load some drivers from the CDROM or disk that came with it. The two things you really need are CTCM.EXE and AWEUTIL.EXE. To get them to work you add the following lines to the AUTOEXEC.BAT (AUTOEXEC.DOS):
SET SOUND=C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND
SET MID=SYNTH:1 MAP:E MODE:0
CD \WINDOWS
CTCM
C:\PROGRA~1\CREATIVE\CTSND\AWEUTIL
IF CDROM is Needed (Quake), you need to load the CONFIG.SYS driver that came with the CDROM (or download it from the web) and then add the line:
LH /L:1 MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD001 /V /M:8
to the AUTOEXEC.BAT (AUTOEXEC.DOS note CONFIG.DOS maybe the name for CONFIG.SYS). The above won't work for WOLFENSTIEN 3D, you'll need to edit the CTCM.CFG file (generally in C:\WINDOWS) to set A220 I7 D1 (other stuff doesn't matter). That is also true of some other DOS stuff (Lemmings).
