BBCs

If you're really looking for the British BBC click on it!

The BBC group of machines runs in my house on it's own ethernet. There is a BBC1 (PCXT) generally not on the network, BBC2 (AT Clone) on the net and UUCP connected via MV, BBC3 (386DX/40) running Linux, DOS, Windows3.11, BBC4 (486DX/66) running Windows 3.11 for CDR mastering, BBC5 which is my gateway linux system to the web (also has Win3.1, Win95 on it), Root66 (486DX/66) running Win3.11 or Linux and ROOT120 (486DX4/120) as the main household terminal running Windows95 and Linux. The newest addition is P233, a PentiumII 233 running Windows98 with most of the latest bells and whistles (PNP, AWE64...). They are handy for multiplayer games like DOOM and newer ones.
If you call my house (48 Bell St., Nashua 883-0844). The phone is likely to be answered by voice mail even if I'm on the net. The net address for me there was bcw@techie.com .

If I'm home it could be answered by me, or voice mail, or Linux on BBC3, or BBC5.  Really my server (BBC5/BCW) is on  when I'm on generally, but it's a firewall as well and on a dynamic IP. This connects my internal network to the internet using IP masquerading and does DHCP. I generally have a MS Messenger running as bcw142@hotmail.com . I use bcw142 as once apon a time I had naug.org and was bw142 at the internic, I dropped it when they upped the anti to a yearly fee.

2016 The last of the BBCs went down, it was bbc5. It still exists (2017), but the mythtv setup which was the main part of it went down so I shut it down. There are still basement computers my Pi dmz (where this is hosted) and Music systems are down there as are others like gx (A Dell gx series system). A number of the BBCs are down there, just not powered except when needed or wanted. Root66 also exists mostly for old games (but I generally play them on current systems under DOSBox).
