Final DOOM Plutonia
First to play this Final DOOM is installed in the DOOM2 directory, you
CD to that directory and on a command line type
DOOM2 -devparm -FILE PLUTONIA.WAD
That starts Final DOOM PLUTONIA, you will see the splash screen above (title)
then launch into a demo as usual for DOOM2. The -devparm makes F1 take
a snapshot picture like the ones here. Then you need to open them with
something that will read the .PCX (Imaging, Paint Shop..), save them as
.BMP (with GAMMA Correct 2 if possible), open them with MSPaint and save
them as .GIF for web pages (that's how I did it). There is also a Windows95/98 shell that will run it, it's all point and click and much
like DM. It shows as a Cocodemon Icon:
Doom95
As you can see from the following pictures there are some problems
with Final DOOM. The levels on the maps show the old
DOOM2 names, Plutonia seems to have the old DOOM2
music. The first level of Plutonia is
Congo:
Congo is murder most foul. It takes a lot of game play just to get
through it. TNT (Evilution) first few levels are
easier by far. Generally the way to play Plutonia is save, do something,
if it was ok save again and so on. You'll have a lot of false starts on
this one. It seems to be best to turn right and run over to the stairs
(which you can't see in the picture above), turn back and shoot at the
guards in the tower over looking the stairs. Duck back into the stairs
and come back out shoot, duck back in till you've killed everything
shooting at you there.
Map shows old DOOM2 name:
End shows correct name:
The second Plutonia level is Well of Souls:
You have to hit the switch (Head in the wall) to your right and then the
well drains and you go down with it, rotate and shoot on your way down to
take out what you can before you reach bottom.
